How to maintain a luxury vehicle through winter
Driving a luxury automobile is a dream for just about everyone, and when you finally get to park one in your driveway, you don’t want it to degrade and lose its luster or value. Keeping a luxury car in good shape is a little more difficult than keeping standard cars in the same great shape, and that’s simply because of the nature of luxury cars having some fancier equipment and craftsmanship. With colder weather approaching, it’s an especially good idea to understand how to maintain a luxury vehicle through the winter, and we have some tips for just that.
What are the benefits of buying a used luxury car?
Steps to keep your luxury automobile in great condition in cold weather
Before the first snowstorm coats the streets of the Jersey City and Tri-State areas, it’s important to take some preparatory steps ahead of time. Get the basics covered first—oil changes, fluid checks, windshield wiper blade replacements, tire checks/replacement, and heater/climate control checks. You want to make sure you have fresh oil to keep things running smoothly in that engine while it battles the cold, and you don’t want to be stuck with improper windshield washing during a messy snow or ice storm. Plus, colder temperatures can wreak havoc on tire pressure, so that is something to keep an eye on as the winter progresses, not to mention checking the tires and brakes themselves so you can be sure to grip the road properly.
Okay, so those are the basics, but now it’s time to kick it up a little because this is a luxury vehicle. As you likely know, road conditions can really do some damage to a car’s exterior, and that includes the salt on the road after a storm. For that reason, you will need to be sure your car is washed frequently to avoid corrosive salt and muck from dimming your luxury vehicle’s sparkle. Don’t use just any materials to wash your car, however—be sure that the detergents are specially made for use on luxury cars. The same goes for the interior. If you have leather seats, use a special cleaner that is meant for leather seats, and make sure you dry the interior completely lest moisture builds up and causes the seats to go foul. Clean the sleek-looking interior trim with a microfiber cloth in order to keep its impressive good looks, and don’t forget to vacuum the floors. When you are all finished, add a coat of protective wax to the exterior to give it some added shine and protection.
If you can afford it and you don’t anticipate using your luxury vehicle during the winter, you can also store it in a safe spot for the season. You can use your own garage of course, but there are also storage facilities that let you store your car for a fee if you wish.
We recommend doing all of this cleaning regularly during the winter to stay ahead of any excessive wear and tear of your beautiful luxury vehicle. Are you still looking for that perfect luxury car? Take a look at our inventory and see what catches your eye!
